A day at the Museum

We wake up to a beautiful picturesque day in Toulouse.
Off to find a museum - not hard as there are many. And guess what - the entrepid explorers find a museum close by - what kind of museum??? Oh a scientific type museum-

Shows the changes of the land and ocean mass of the world over the last few billion years (yes feels like you at the cradle of mankind in South Africa), then the rock and meteor formations, then onto the old - no ancient Japanese earthquake monitor - looks like a big witches pot with little dragons around it, each of which has a ball in its mouth. If there is an earth quake. The dragon on that side of the pot spews the ball into the mouth of a little ornamental frog - and that's the direction of the earthquake. Apparently really works. Fascinating.

Then we move onto a wall of animal and bird skeletons - a history land bone identification exercise. Mark is the winner - identifying the most complex skeletons. But we all got the hippo right. Yes - felt like we back in Africa with cheetahs, buck, seals, etc. then a tour of botanical gardens and more specifically carnivorous plants. Then a wonderful herb type garden.

Then off to lunch - once again good food - but after last night - only 70 percent award. Was soul with real "french" fries and salad and veggies. Standard expectations now very high.

Full tummies - a quick tour of a small food market - gee all you want is to be hungry again - and then off to the hotel for a little siesta. In preparation for a team dinner.

Really rather tired and race has not started yet? Feels like we have been away for weeks we have seen and done so much.

Till next update - Judy
