Boat rigging at the Start

Today - had a late start - And finally meet 007 - the Lester and Oarsome South Africa Team's Secret Weapon. And he lives up to all expectations. Think he could single handedly row the race ( thank goodness). 

Then off to the market to browse and buy lunch. 

What a choice of foods -

All types of breads, sausages, cheeses, chickens, meats, herbs, veggies, and the list goes on and on. Me- had to try sheep cheese??? Was really good - different. First for me.  

Them onto a park - Leslie finds a bandstand and we have a gourmet picnic - with red and rose wine and beer and water. During lunch - stories of life are told. Just to give one example - Tony has flown over the Grand Canyon - both the inner and outer rim - as the pilot- we sit in awe of each other. 

Then off to the venue to get boats allocated and set up boats and get bikes, etc.  Just as we finish - a torrential shower and we all gather at different spots - Simon - a bus shelter, Tony in the organizers caravan, the rest in a garage... 

Then off to rooms to get ready for dinner. After an alleged  short walk ( Leslie will tell you otherwise), we find a restaurant at the carousel - Guess what - in France - Toulouse no less - and the vote is for pizzas and pastas??? Crazy bunch !!! 

Oh well- early start tomorrow and have to pack - so good night and ...
