Friday in Toulouse

The majority of the Team Oarsome South Africa Team has arrived in Toulouse

-namely: Sue ( yes - the birthday girl), Tim and Wendy ( the illustrious leaders), Mark ( the alleged gentleman - let's watch this space) and me. Waiting for Simon, Leslie and the secret weapon ( Their son!!! The Lester 007 - sorry full intro will only happen when we officially meet - so watch this space as well- we wait with anticipation!). 

Today - well - arrived in Toulouse - booked in to hotels, a quick pepsi or beer at an Irish pub ??? ( never said we normal), then off to a bus city tour of the city. 

Toulouse - Steeped in history - some buildings from before Christ birth - unbelievable. Gates to city from 1600's - still there. 

Odd facts abound: eg: The historical biggest employer in Toulouse in the 1900's and current century was a tobacco manufacturer. Murphy's law- that old building now an institute for learning - which field- sciences - no less. ??? Shows you - smoking sometimes does lead to benefits for all??? They part of European partnership of The Air Bus - plane manufacturers. 

Toulouse is the 3rd biggest student city centre in all of France and has many learning institutions. 

Buildings sometimes took a long time to build so the buildings often have different architectural styles as they were built over the periods. - single buildings often has distinct architectural styles. Architecture is very interesting. 

After the bus tour off to an amazing dinner- a lettuce salad ( really tasty and so simple - the French make food into an experience) - then steak slivers and chips ( mouth watering) and then ice cream and coffee. Awesome ( no sorry - oarsome- was incredible). 

During dinner had a "torrential rain shower" and was just like a Johannesburg thunder storm with lightning. Amazing??? 

Well off to bed... Tomorrow another big day...
